Finding a NEET solution: re-engaging young people not in employment, education or training
Guest of Honour: Oliver Newton, NEET Policy Manager, Department for Children, Schools and Families

This timely seminar will examine the Government's progress towards meeting its target of reducing the percentage of NEETs by 2% by 2010. As the country emerges from recession and the percentage of young people out of school and work continues to rise, panels will examine what gives rise to young people becoming NEETs, the relevance of the education system to young people and the impact and consequences of raising the school leaving age. Furthermore, the seminar will also consider the Government's response to the recent rise in NEETs, including the 'Backing Young Britain' campaign, as well as the accessibility of apprenticeships and other work opportunities.

We are delighted that Oliver Newton, NEET Policy Manager, Department for Children, Schools and Families and Dr Richard Williams, Chief Executive, Rathbone will be delivering keynote addresses this seminar.

Sam Conniff, Co-Founder, Livity; Brendon Finegan, Director of Strategy, Youth Justice Board; Dr Geoff Hayward, Associate Director of ESRC Research Centre on Skills, Knowledge and Organisational Performance, University of Oxford; Ginny Lunn, Director of Policy & Development, Prince's Trust; Charlotte Pickles, Policy Director, Centre for Social Justice will also be speaking at this event.

John Hayes MP, Shadow Minister for Lifelong Learning, Higher Education and Skills and Simon Hughes MP, Vice Chair, All-Party Parliamentary Group on Youth Affairs have kindly agreed to chair this seminar.
