Summary

The Association for Citizenship Teaching (ACT) is the professional subject association for everyone involved in citizenship education. Our main aim is to promote mutual support and good practice as well as to advance skills and knowledge for the teaching and learning of Citizenship in schools and colleges.

Activities

ACT supports teachers by:
• Offering direct support to classroom practitioners
• Producing resources
• Connecting our members to local and regional networks
• Hosting one annual national conference and several regional conferences throughout the year for teachers to network, share experiences and update themselves on resources and developments in citizenship teaching.
• Producing self-evaluation toolkits for schools
• Producing a termly journal called Teaching Citizenship
• Producing a monthly e-newsletter
• Having a well resourced website
• Reviewing available resources
• Representing the subject at national level together with our partners, including the DfES and TDA.

ACT is for everyone who teaches citizenship. We support Citizenship teachers and others whose remit includes teaching citizenship.
